There are two of us. We survey your garden, design the system, dig it in and set it running.
Nathan & Small is Zak Nathan and Oliver Small. We only do automatic watering for home gardens, and we do every job ourselves, with no sales team and no subcontractors.
So the person who measures your water pressure is the person who lays the pipe, and when you ring the number, one of us picks up.

Every system is designed after we've seen the garden and measured the pressure at the tap, so you only get the parts your garden needs.

Spray stakes and drip line
For borders, beds, pots and baskets. Spray stakes sit in among the planting and drip line runs under the bark, so water goes onto the plants or straight to the roots, not across the path or up the fence.

Pop-up sprinklers
They sit flush with the lawn and only rise when they're running, so you can mow straight over them.

Controllers
A weather-aware controller you run from your phone, or a plain timer you set once. We'll fit whichever you'll actually use.
We also service and repair systems, including ones we didn't fit. If you've inherited one with the house, get in touch and we'll come and look at it.

We walk the garden with you and measure the water pressure at the house. That number decides what's possible.
Design and written quote
We work out the zones and where every head goes, then send you a clear written quote.
Installed in a day
We arrive in the morning, the pipe goes in out of sight, and the lawn is left tidy behind us.
Set up and handover
We programme the controller, run every zone with you and show you how to change the schedule.

Questions
How much does a system cost?
It depends on the size of the garden, how many zones it needs and whether you want beds, lawn or both covered. That's why the survey is free. We'd rather measure your pressure and give you a real number than quote a range that turns out to be wrong.
Will you dig up my lawn?
Often we don't need to. In a lot of gardens the pipe can be hidden without breaking ground at all, run under bark, through borders, behind planting or along existing edges. Digging is usually only needed where a line has to cross open lawn. Then we keep it to a narrow slit, put the turf straight back and tidy up, and within a couple of weeks you won't see where we've been. Because of the way we lay it, any repair or adjustment later on can be done without digging your garden up again.
Do I need a smart controller?
No. Smart controllers adjust watering using local weather data and are handy if you like managing things from your phone. A simple automatic timer does the job perfectly well if you'd rather set it once and leave it. We fit either.
Can you water pots and hanging baskets?
Yes. Pots, troughs, raised beds and baskets are all straightforward to put on a drip line. They're usually the first thing to suffer when you go away, so they're well worth including.
What happens in winter?
We talk you through what to do at the end of the season when we hand the system over, so you can look after it yourself. If you'd rather we did it, just ask and we'll quote for it.
Do you service systems you didn't install?
Yes. If you've inherited a system with a house or had one fitted years ago, we're happy to look at it, service it or extend it.
